Kahatanaum Shrine is a Shrine in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Kahatanaum Shrine is a special Shrine that has no puzzles to solve but is more difficult than usual to get to. Shrines are mini-dungeons, housing quick trials such as puzzles or short enemy encounters. Once a Shrine has been completed, the player obtains a Light of Blessing, an item key to obtaining more Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels, and the Shrine is unlocked as a Fast Travel point. If the Shrine has not been completed but has been activated, it will be marked in yellow on the map. It will still be available for fast travel so that can players return and complete the Shrine at a later time.

Kahatanaum Shrine Walkthrough Guide

Reaching Kahatanaum Shrine

Kahatanaum Shrine is located in the southwest area of the Rising Island Chain in the Hebra Sky. The best way to complete this shrine is through the Main Quest Tulin of Rito Village, which will inevitably take you to the shrine, especially as a checkpoint for the whole Main Quest. The path of the Main Quest will take you through a variety of Enemies and traveling upward through the Rising Island Chain using Link’s Ascend ability and Tulin’s gust ability. The Main Quest will also eventually have you go to the Mayaumekis Shrine, from Rito Village, which will be a good starting point to get to this shrine if you’ve already cleared it. You’ll find the shrine before getting to the platforms that will take you to the Wind Temple.

For an in-depth guide on the Main Quest Tulin of Rito Village, visit our page here.

If you haven’t cleared Mayaumekis Shrine, head first to the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower in the Hebra Mountains. Launch up and glide to the west to the Rising Island Chain. Be careful of the Aerocudas that might attack you while you’re gliding. If you look to your left as you glide, you should be able to find the Mayaumekis Shrine, and so around here is also where you’ll start if you’ve cleared it already. You can glide as far as you can west, however, skipping an insignificant fight against a Soldier Construct II. You’ll still have to fight two more Soldier Construct IIs patrolling the stairs where you’ll land. Climb up the broken structure where you’ll find some wooden blocks. You have to Ascend up the ledge here but it’ll be too high, which means you’ll have to use Ultrahand to position the blocks below it. Climb the blocks and then Ascend up top. Head toward the pillar to your southwest but glide past it to a short curved platform guarded by another Soldier Construct II. There’s a chest here containing three Portable Pots. Look to the east side of the pillar to see some icicles. Melt it down with any fire-empowered attack, head inside the cavity, and then Ascend to the top of the pillar. Glide and use Tulin’s ability to reach the structure to the northwest. Use Ascend here this time to get up the arch. Keep going to the northwest for a fight against a Captain Construct I. After the fight, head to the next platform to the north which has a thin ice sheet in the middle. Melt it with any fire-empowered attack or dive through it to break it and jump onto a sail as if it was a trampoline, and launch up.

Continue your journey to the northwest and glide to the platform floating above the structure. Before breaking the breakable wall, jump and dive into the sheet of ice below you to the northeast to jump onto a trampoline sail. Glide to the opening blocked by icicles to the northeast. Inside will be a chest containing ten Arrows. Ascend up to fight an Aerocuda, and then jump back to the floating platform to the southwest. Stand on top of the breakable wall and break it to jump onto another trampoline sail. Face to the southwest as you launch up to a structure with some stairs. Climb up and then jump and dive into another sheet of ice to jump on yet another trampoline sail. Follow the path created by two more trampoline sails, being careful of the Aerocudas hovering around, gliding to the ceiling of a structure with a doorway. Run across the following platforms to the east, guarded by more Aerocudas, to eventually be greeted by three Soldier Construct IIs. Run through the path past them and don’t slow down as the pathway will fall apart piece by piece. Another Soldier Construct II should be waiting for you at the end. Follow the path to the southeast and up the stairs to two more Soldier Construct IIs led by another Captain Construct I. Behind it is another breakable wall on the ground, this time hiding a chest containing a Large Zonai Charge. Ascend back up and then head up another set of stairs to the northeast. Build a Hot Air Balloon using the Balloon, Fire Emitter, and one of the grates nearby. Ride it upward and then jump to the platform to the northeast. Ascend up the pillar in the middle. Climb up the structure to the northwest and then jump down onto the trampoline sail right next to it. Look for another trampoline sail of another ship circling a pillar a bit further northwest. Jump onto it to launch up once again, making sure to keep facing northwest. You should catch a glimpse of the shrine’s swirling green lights when you reach the peak of your launch. Glide toward the ice sheet and dive through it again and onto the last trampoline sail. Land onto the platform to the west and head up the stairs to finally get to the shrine.
