Kyononis Shrine Walkthrough Guide

Reaching Kyononis Shrine

This shrine purifies the ancient evil. You who have entered here, heed my instruction.

The Kyononis Shrine can be found in the now ruined Castle Town right outside and to the south of Hyrule Castle, more specifically on the east side of Central Square. You can teleport to the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower and head north to find the shrine.

How to complete the Kyononis Shrine

Use a side hop to avoid enemy attacks. This will create an opening that you can use to strike back.

When you enter the shrine, you will be given instructions on how to perform some basic combat moves. A Training Construct will appear to help you learn these moves. The first move the Kyononis Shrine will teach you is the Side Hop. Press the ZL button to target an enemy. Right before the Training Construct is about to hit you, press the X button and either Left or Right on the Left Stick to perform a perfectly timed Side Hop. If you do it correctly, you'll be prompted to perform a Flurry Rush by pressing the Y button. Successfully performing a Side Hop into a Flurry Rush will let you move on to the next part of the training.

Do a backflip to avoid enemy attacks and create an opening to strike back.

After performing a Side Hop, you'll be taught how to do Backflips. To perform a Backflip, target the enemy with ZL and right before they're about to hit you, backpedal by pressing Back on the Left Stick and press the X button at the same time. If your timing with the Training Construct was correct, you'll once again be prompted to performing a Flurry Rush with the Y button. You can move on to the next part of training after successfully performing a Flurry Strike from a Backflip.

You can repel an attack if you parry with your shield at just the right time. Strike back in the opening you create.

The next part of the training will be performing Perfect Guards. Hold ZL to keep your shield up, and press the A button to perform a Parry. Time your Parry right before the Training Construct hits you and you'll see a blue glow. Perform some regular attacks after doing a Perfect Guard and you can move on to the final part of the Combat Training Shrine.

Build up your power, and then release it to unleash a charge attack. Catch your enemies in this motion to damage them.

Finally, you'll be taught how to perform a Charged Attack. Simply press and hold the Y button to charge up an attack. There are two charging levels denoted by the two blue glows on your weapon. Release the Y button after the second glow to defeat the Training Construct and receive a Zonai Charge. This the concludes training.

Your mastery of these techniques has earned you access. Proceed within.

The locked gate across the room will unlock and open after you successfully perform a fully charged Charged Attack. Head inside to find a chest and loot the Zonaite Sword. Further in the room is a green structure you can interact with to. Touch it to obtain a Light of Blessing, fully restore  your health, and enable fast travel to the Kyononis Shrine.
