Joku-usin is a Shrine in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Joku-usin Shrine is a Proving Grounds: Short Circuit Shrine pitting Link against powerful enemies using only the Equipment and environmental items the Shrine provides for him. Shrines are mini-dungeons, housing quick trials such as puzzles or short enemy encounters. Once a Shrine has been completed, the player obtains a Light of Blessing, an item key to obtaining more Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels, and the Shrine is unlocked as a Fast Travel point. If the Shrine has not been completed but has been activated, it will be marked in yellow on the map. It will still be available for fast travel so that can players return and complete the Shrine at a later time.

Joku-usin Shrine Walkthrough Guide

Reaching Joku-usin Shrine

This shrine imprisons and purifies the ancient evil.

The Joku-usin Shrine is located in the southern area of Dragonhead Island in the Faron Sky. The best way to complete this shrine is through the Main Quest Find the Fifth Sage, which will inevitably take you to this sky island. The path of the Main Quest will take you through a variety of Enemies and have you acquire the Charged Set to ultimately use a mechanism from below to weaken the thunderstorms right above in the Thunderhead Isles. This route will also be safer as it’ll weaken the storm you will be traversing through to get to the shrine. Nevertheless, be prepared with your shock-resistant Equipment, and make sure to stow away all your Weapons.

For an in-depth guide on the Main Quest Find the Fifth Sage, visit our page here.

To get to the shrine, head first to Popla Foothills Skyview Tower, launch up, and then glide to the south. Try to pull out your Paraglider as fast as you can right after you hit the highest you can go while launching. Head for the island covered by storm clouds, which is the Thunderhead Isles. Your current goal is to land at the top of the small island with the tallest structure. This can be difficult with the storm cloud hovering about, so it’s okay to fall short and then make your way to the platform at the base of the structure. Go to the small pond below the tall structure and then Ascend up. If you look at your map you’ll be at the northern portion of the island, and you’ll want to make your way south.

Head southwest past the piston to the next platform. Climb up to your left and then jump onto the next platform, and then make a bridge by attaching the two wooden planks together to go up the stairs to the southwest. There will be a Thunder Wizzrobe here to greet you. Head past the arch to the south and jump down. Follow along the path and then head up the stairs to your left. There will already be a makeshift here made of steel plates, so just transfer it onto the right set of rails. To be safe from lightning strikes, Attach a wooden plank as another layer on top of the steel plate. Attach the Fans nearby behind your cart and ride it along the rails. Make sure to turn the Fans off afterward, especially if your Energy Cells aren’t too stacked yet currently. Use Ascend to go to the platform above you when you reach the end of the rails. You should already be able to see the shrine inside the structure to the southeast. To get inside, jump and glide down to the southwest, to the platform connected to the structure which is guarded by a Soldier Construct III and a Soldier Construct IV. Make your own makeshift cart here using the wooden planks. Attach a smaller plank vertically to the middle of the larger one. Place it on the rails such that the vertical plank sits in the middle of the rails. Attach some Fans behind your creation and move forward. Be ready to deactivate the Fans as soon as you get under the structure, and then finally Ascend up to the shrine.

How to Complete Joku-usin Shrine

Outside equipment is forbidden beyond this point.

When you enter the shrine you will be stripped of all your Equipment. Ahead and to the right you will find the only Equipment you are allowed to use in this shrine - a Wooden Stick, and Long Stick. After you grab them and move forward, you’ll find yourself in a large maze-like room with multiple patrolling Enemies. On the other end of the room is a Shock Emitter, above a floor filled with metal tiles. There are Shock Fruits scattered throughout the room. The higher structures are also made up of metal. As the shrine description suggests, you’ll want to take advantage of all of these features to use electricity to defeat all the Enemies. The two nearest ones are Soldier Construct Is. The second one wields a bow so defeat it so you can use the Old Wooden Bow that it will drop. Use it with the Shock Fruits to bring down the two Soldier Construct Is perched safely in the higher structures. Below them are two patrolling Soldier Construct Is led by a Soldier Construct III. Lure them into the metal-tiled area and then use the Shock Emitter to defeat them.

Your equipment will be returned to you.

Defeat all seven Enemies and you’ll be given all your gear back. A gate will unlock that and behind it will be a chest containing an Electro Elixir. Examine the structure behind the chest with green runes to obtain a Light of Blessing and unlock the Joku-usin Shrine on your map for Fast Travel.
