Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Yunobo of Goron City Quest Walkthrough

Starting Location: Yunobo of Goron City

The quest is triggered automatically as part of the Main Quest: Regional Phenomena when you reach the quest marker located in the northeast of the map at the Eldin region. Once you have spoken with the village elder in Goron City, he will instruct you to visit Yunobo to continue the quest.

Make Your Way to YunoboCo Headquarters

Proceed towards the quest marker by departing from Goron City. To locate the main road on the world map, make sure to activate Edin Canyon Skyview Tower. If you have not yet activated it, it is strongly recommended that you do so now to facilitate navigation in the area. While departing from the town, you will encounter Marakuguc Shrine; you may choose to visit it at this time. To reach YunoboCo HQ, it is advisable to merge with Side Quest: The Ancient City of Gorondia! The optimal way to access the destination is to converse with the little orange individual at the minecart tracks, located at the northeast exit of Goron City.

To complete this quest, begin by using Ultrahand to fasten a fan onto a minecart. After placing the cart on the left rail, talk to the quest giver to have them board the cart, and then proceed to board the cart yourself. Upon hitting the fan, the cart will travel down the rail, arriving at YunoboCo HQ and successfully concluding the mission. Another option is to travel on foot and quickly pass by any monsters in the area. Upon reaching the destination, engage in conversation with the two small individuals ( Offrak & Slergo ) at the cave entrance. Opt for the first dialogue option to gain permission to pass through.

The temperature inside the cave is exceedingly high, and in order to survive in this environment, it is necessary to don fire-resistant gear. This equipment can be purchased from either the armor shop located in Goron City or from the shop located directly adjacent to the entrance of the cave. The acquisition of the Flamebreaker Armor, obtainable for 700 Rupees, will sufficiently ensure survival. A single piece of this armor is adequate and no further purchases are necessary. It is important to note that the armor must be equipped from the inventory in order to be effective.

In the event that you lack sufficient Rupees to purchase the necessary gear, it is recommended that you sell any other items in your possession. Another option is to venture around the region and engage in hunting activities, destroy ore deposits, and collect other salable materials. Animal meat, in particular, can fetch a good price when cooked, such as a full bird can sell for 42 Rupees, while smaller animal parts can sell for 9-18 Rupees when cooked, and cooked fish can sell for 7 or more Rupees per piece, depending on the type. Once the armor has been equipped, proceed to enter the cave, which will trigger a boss battle against evil Yunobo.

Overcome, Defeat the Evil Boss

When evil Yunobo curls up into a ball, wait for the opportune moment to run sideways, allowing him to roll past you and collide with a nearby wall. This will cause stars to appear above his head, providing an opening to strike and damage his mask. Repeat this process three times until his malevolent mask shatters, effectively ending the battle. Once the evil mask is destroyed, Yunobo's demeanor will shift towards being friendly.

Climb To The Summit of Death Mountain

Following the defeat of evil Yunobo, you will have the ability to direct Yunobo to execute fiery rolling attacks. Initiate conversation with Yunobo by pressing the A button, and then press A again to prompt him to attack and roll. Utilize this ability twice on the lava rocks located within the cave to shatter them. Upon exiting the cave, the next objective is to make your way to Death Mountain, which can be identified by the yellow quest marker. Travel to the western walls of the volcano, where smoke can be seen emanating from the area. Alternatively, an optional activity is to venture into the West Tunnel of the Volcano to engage in the Side Quest: The Abandoned Laborer.

Your next task is to ascend to the summit of Death Mountain, and there are two viable methods to achieve this. Firstly, you can attempt to climb the western wall by progressing from one cliff to the next. Alternatively, you may opt for the more efficient option of deploying a minecart onto the tracks and attaching a fan. Board the minecart and activate the fan to enjoy a rapid ascent. This approach is quicker than climbing, although it's worth noting that you will encounter enemies en route. To combat these foes, instruct Yunobo to employ his charge ability, which can also yield various materials. In the event that the fan's energy depletes, wait briefly for it to recharge before resuming your ascent. Although the cart may slip backward slightly while inactive, the recharge rate is relatively swift. Furthermore, a platform situated midway up the mountain provides an ideal location for a brief rest.

Upon arriving at the end of the tracks, you will observe a Shrine situated there. Descend and accomplish it immediately using the Sitsum Shrine Walkthrough. This will also enable it to function as a rapid transit location. Next, ascend the wall once more and proceed forward until Yunobo halts and initiates a conversation with you. Following this, interact with Yunobo once more to initiate a more extensive cutscene, which will usher in the Moragia boss's arrival at the volcano's summit.

Engage In a Boss Fight Against Moragia

At the location where you conversed with Yunobo, you will encounter a wing resembling that of a bird, equipped with fans. Employ the Ultrahand to retrieve it, place it on the ledge, climb onto it, and activate the fans by striking them. Without delay, press the A button situated in the bird's center to seize the stick. If Yunobo is in proximity to you, it may be necessary to press the A button to prompt him to roll away, as both his attack and stick interaction employ the same button.

With the flying bird machine under your control using the Left Stick, move towards the three Moragia heads and order Yunobo to charge into them by pressing the A button. It's only necessary to hit each head once. However, be cautious not to crash the machine into the Volcano, as you will have to start the fight again if it gets stuck or if you fall off. Once all three heads have been hit, the boss will be defeated.

Explore The Area Called The Depths

After jumping into the Volcano Crater, press the R button to gain more flight control. While approaching the bottom, paraglide towards the dark ground and avoid landing in the lava. Look for a yellow glowing "mushroom" and land near it. This is the Lightroot, and interacting with it will unlock a permanent fast travel point and light up the area. Find Yunobo, who will be marked on the map, and talk to him.

You will hear a voice and a new quest marker will appear on the map. The area is quite dark, so stick to the edges of the lava where there is more light. If needed, use Brightbloom Seeds from your inventory to create light. Be wary of the Gloom, which is the red stuff on the floor that temporarily reduces your life. To restore your lives, visit Lightroots or use Sundelion Flowers in cooking. Once you reach the Questmarker, you will enter the Fire Temple.

Unlock The Five Locks Within The Fire Temple

Fire Temple Lock Number 1

According to the map, head south on the 1st floor of the building. As you come across a stream of lava, hop over the floating rocks. Then, using Ultrahand, grab the water hydrant and hold it over the next lava pool. The water will solidify into rock platforms. Keep spraying water on the lava until you've created enough solid rocks to safely jump over the pool. With Ultrahand, place one of the carts on the tracks and activate the fan to start it moving. While in the cart, press the A button to direct Yunobo to the green switch sign, which changes the tracks. In the next area, exit the cart and go down the left path, where you'll see a large rock blocking the way. Use Yunobo's Charge attack on it, making sure you're positioned uphill on the right, behind a brown rock that resembles a ramp. You can use this rock as a ramp to help Yunobo fly further and avoid landing in the lava.

Fire Temple Lock Number 2

Starting from the first Padlock, go back to where you first arrived by cart. Place a cart on the tracks and ride it while defeating enemies that shoot at you with Yunobo's attack. Once you reach the end of the tracks, turn the cart around and use it again. Use Yunobo's Charge attack to hit the green switch sign ahead on the tracks, which will change your direction to the right side of the tracks. Defeat more enemies along the way using Yunobo's attack. Once you reach the end of the tracks, turn the cart around and hit the green switch sign with Yunobo's Charge again to redirect yourself to the right side of the tracks.

When you reach the next area, lower the tracks on the left side by hitting the green bell on the left. Ignore the right tracks since they only lead to a chest with 10 arrows. Grab a cart and use it on the left tracks until you reach another lava pool. Activate the green water hydrant on the right side, then use Ultrahand to hold it over the lava to create solid rock platforms. Hold it at the end where the lava ends and the rock will float in your direction. Jump on it and use the Recall ability to make it flow back to the other side with you on it. Jump off the rock once you reach the other side, defeat the enemy using Yunobo's attack if necessary, and activate the second lock.

Fire Temple Lock Number 3

To return to the tracks, use Yunobo's Charge on the large rocks on the right side of the lava pool from the second lock. This will break them and reveal another water hydrant that sprays water from above, creating floating rocks on the lava. Jump on the rocks to safely cross the lava. Return to the tracks where you came from and turn the cart around. Next, use your bow to shoot an arrow at the green bell on the other side, which you previously hit to lower the tracks. This will raise the tracks back up. Use the cart to reach the next floor.

When you arrive on the third floor, there will be a Zonai enemy in the distance which you should defeat (you can use Yunobo's Charge to do so). Once you defeat it, you'll see a bunch of rockets on the wall behind it. Use Ultrahand to grab one of the rockets and place it at the front of a cart, ensuring that it's facing forward. Then, put a fan at the back of the cart and place it on the half-broken tracks on the right side, which go up and southwest on the map. Get into the cart and activate the rocket to be propelled over the half-broken tracks and onto the 4th floor in the southwest.

Exit the cart and eliminate the enemies in the vicinity. Observe the large rock on your right and ascend it. After reaching the top of the rock, proceed to scale the wall above it, with the starting point indicated below. There are several ledges where you can pause to rest and restore your stamina. Continue climbing until you reach the topmost floor where the lock is located. Employ Yunobo’s Charge to unlock it, and if necessary, wait for a few seconds until he appears upstairs.

Fire Temple Lock Number 4

After unlocking the third Padlock, descend to the cart area. Use the green bell to lower the right tracks. Retrieve a cart with a fan on it and ride it down those tracks, returning to the main platform where you discovered the rockets earlier. The lock is located on a rock behind lava, and there are two possible methods to make Yunobo hit it.

The first method is to stand between a green bell and the end of some tracks, slightly to the left of the lock. Then, aim at a sharp brown rock in the lava that resembles a ramp and use Yunobo’s Charge. The rock will launch him up to the lock.

The second method involves gliding over the lava and climbing up the left side to reach the lock, which is the easiest side to climb. Once you are standing to the left of the gong, have Yunobo perform his attack. Hitting the gong from the side will still activate it. If Yunobo does not spawn in that location, you can jump into the lava at the cost of one life. This will respawn you where you jumped off and should also cause Yunobo to spawn there. You may need to repeat this or move around a bit until he spawns up there. While this method is a bit tricky, it still works.

Fire Temple Lock Number 5

After unlocking the 4th Padlock, glide down to the northwest platform on the 3rd floor. There are two different ways to get to the last padlock.

Method 1: Ascend the tower located in northwest of the 3rd floor until you can no longer climb any further, using the ledges to recover stamina as necessary. You'll soon reach rocks protruding from the wall that hinders further ascent. Just below these rocks is a long ledge that encircles the tower.

Stand on this ledge, activate Transcend, and carefully walk along it to the back of the tower ( on its northwest side ). Mind the camera, as it can be finicky here. Traverse the ledge until Transcend turns green and allows you to beam through the back wall of the tower. Use Transcend at the specific location indicated to beam inside the tower. Glide down through the hole in the center of the tower, and at the bottom (1st floor), you'll find the final Padlock. One floor above the Padlock is a chest containing a Soldier II Reaper ( dealing 20 damage ), which can be handy for the upcoming boss fight.

Upon unlocking the last Padlock, hit the orange crystal beside the locked gate to exit the tower, and use the green portal beside the main gate on the 1st floor to leave the dungeon.

Method 2: As an alternative to the first method, you can destroy the red rocks blocking the entrance to the tower on the 3rd-floor northwest platform. To do this, take a cart back to the central platform on the 3rd floor and hit the two green bells to turn the tracks upwards. Then, use another cart on the northwest rail, which will connect to the newly turned rail and take you up one floor. Continue on the next rail until you reach the top of the tower, then drop down the right side to a big red rock blocking the entrance.

To destroy the rock, use Yunobo's ability, then enter the tower and fly down the hole to the bottom floor. There, you will find the last gong. Ring it to release the final lock, then hit the orange crystal to open the door outside. Finally, interact with the green portal next to the main gate on the 1st floor to exit the area.

Defeat the Marbled Gohma Boss

Upon entering the round room with red rocks on the ceiling after unlocking the door on the 1st floor, you can break the rocks by using Yunobo’s Charge on any wall. The rounded walls will propel him upwards, allowing him to break the rocks and initiate the boss fight.

In the first phase, hit the same leg of the boss twice in a row with Yunobo’s Charge to stun it. Climb on it and attack its eye with high-damage weapons fused from items in your inventory, such as Soldier Construct II Horn. When the boss tries to shake you off, quickly jump off to avoid taking damage. Repeat this until the first phase ends.

During the second phase, the boss will climb on the ceiling. Use Yunobo’s Charge on the walls to have him hit the middle of the boss, causing it to fall down and become stunned. Then, quickly attack its eye again. Avoid taking damage by jumping off when the boss stands up. If the boss throws explosive rocks around you, climb one of those rocks and glide away before they explode. As the boss approaches low health, it will move faster on the ceiling, making it more challenging to hit. You can line up Yunobo with the boss to hit its eye or use arrows, but the latter option consumes a lot of arrows to deal significant damage. Congratulation on defeating this boss.

Return to Goron City After Completing The Previous Objectives

Upon defeating the boss, you will find a Heart Container in front of you. Speak with Yunobo and then you will be transported back to Goron City automatically. Once the dialogue is finished, the Yunobo of Goron City Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be completed. It is now time to continue with the Main Quest: Regional Phenomena since the entire Yunobo Quest is linked to it and is necessary to progress.
