The Broken Slate Quest Description
After speaking with Jiahto the Historian, he tells you that he discovered an old Zora slate. He said that there is information related to the sky written, but the slate is broken and the full meaning is still unclear. this could be a clue to finding Princess Zelda and wants us to find a way how to decipher it fully.
The Broken Slate Quest Complete Description
It reads: "Stand upon the land of the sky fish, and behold its lofty view. Among the floating rocks you see, a droplet waits for you. Through this droplet, shoot an arrow with the mark of the king. Do this task, and you shall reveal a most wondrous thing. See the watery bridge's resting spot with your own eyes… that which connects the Zora to the people of the skies."

Zelda TotK The Broken Slate Quest Walkthrough
The quest begins automatically during Main Quest: Sidon of the Zora after interacting with the historian Jiahto. The next thing that Link needs to do is to find and reconstruct the slate.
How to Reconstruct the Broken Slate in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
You will find the broken slate to the right of Jiahto, outside the cave. Go up on the rocks around the lake and use your ability Ultrahand to lift it. You will notice that the slate is covered with sludge. In order to remove this, take out a Splash Fruit from your inventory and drop it on the broken slate. Make sure to drop it in front of the slate and then attack it. The fruit will produce water which will wash away the sludge.
If you don't have a splash fruit on you, don't worry. You will find lots of them in the surrounding trees in the lake.
When you're done washing away the sludge, pick up the broken slate and place it on the wall to the left of Jiahto. This marks the end of The Broken-Slate in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Main Quest and the next Main Quest: Clues to the Sky will begin.
