Zelda TotK Trail of the Master Sword Quest Walkthrough
To begin this quest, head over to Ekochiu Shrine. From there, follow the path that you see next to the shrine until you see some enemy camps. Continue going up the mountain until you arrive at Lost Woods. You will find an NPC named Peeks in this location and speak to him. Continue down the path until you see the red gloom to the Minshi Woods Chasm and then speak to an NPC named Tasho there. Jump down the hole where the red gloom is coming from.
You arrive at Minshi Grove where the first thing you will notice is the extremely dark surroundings in the area. Make use of a light source to help look around easier. Explore the Depths and make your way toward the bright-looking tree roots. There will be gloom surrounding the area so you must be prepared to cross this area. Have cooked meals ready for heals. Approach the tree and you have made your way to Eknupnup Lightroot. Continue exploring the depths until you reach an area that is brightly-lit that resembles a temple with pillars. Talk to an NPC named Jatora & Maheli upon arriving at the location, then walk towards the next Lightroot location: Rikonasum Lightroot.
Go back to the temple that you just saw then use the ability Ascend to reach the top floor. Continue to Ascend until you reach the Korok Forest, and then you will make your way to the Deku Tree. After some dialogue, look around to search for an entry into the depths. There will be red gloom all over the area so that will be your first clue. Drop down, and be ready with your paraglider until you reach the bottom. Once you land, an enemy will be waiting for you. Make sure to have heals ready. After defeating your first enemy, the Phantom Ganon will appear.
After defeating Phantom Ganon, the gloom will be cleansed from the area. Fast travel to the Musanokir Shrine to talk to Chio. Chio will ask that you climb the roots behind him to speak with the Great Deku Tree. After approaching the Deku tree and some dialogue, he tells you the location of the sword. However, the tracker seems to be moving. The Great Deku assures you that he can feel the Master Sword's presence in the area. This marks the main quest: Trail of the Master Sword as complete.
