Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sidon of the Zora Quest Walkthrough

Encounter Sidon on Ploymus Mountain.

After completing Main Quest: The Sludge-Covered Statue, this quest will automatically begin in Zora's Domain with a yellow quest marker indicating Sidon's location on top of Ploymus Mountain. However, due to the steep walls, it's better to take the longer route for an easier climb, which is outlined in red on the map below. First, head east from Zora's Domain and look for a wall with stairs. Climb up the stairs and continue walking east beside the mountain wall towards Shatterback Point and Tal Tal Peak. The mountain walls are less steep there, making it easier to climb.

From Tal Tal Peak, go northwest towards the quest marker. Although the majority of the climb is manageable, the last part requires some effort. When you reach the quest marker, you will find Sidon standing in a pool with his arms outstretched. Additionally, you can also complete the Ihen-a Shrine to gain a permanent fast travel point. Sidon will instruct you to locate Jiahto at Toto Lake.

Meet Jiahto Near Toto Lake

Jiahto is located in the little cave in the southwest of Toto Lake, which is situated to the northwest of your conversation with Sidon. You can glide to Toto Lake without any obstructions and speak with Jiahto to receive the Main Quest The Broken Slate. Make sure to complete this quest immediately, as you will also need to complete his follow-up quest, Clues to the Sky. Once you've finished, continue your journey from there.

Complete The Following Main quests: The Broken Slate, Restoring the Zora Armor, and Clues To The Sky

Complete all of these main quests first, The Broken Slate, Restoring the Zora Armor, and Clues To The Sky before continuing this guide. After doing so, proceed further.

Return to Sidon

Once you have completed the main quests mentioned above, head back to Mipha Court and speak with Sidon, as well as Yona, who are both located there. This will trigger a brief boss battle.

Battle the Sludge-Like Boss

During the boss fight, a slime boss will appear. Stand near Sidon and press the A button to activate his water ability, which creates a water bubble around you. Then press Y to shoot the bubble at the boss. Once the boss reveals its weak point in the mouth, approach it and use a melee attack to stun it. From there, continue attacking until the boss is defeated. You can speed up the process by fusing your melee weapons with high-damage parts from your inventory. Repeat this strategy until the boss is defeated.

Meet Sidon at East Reservoir Lake

After the boss fight, Sidon will become a member of your party. Your next destination is East Reservoir Lake, which is marked with a golden quest marker on the map and is located to the south of Mipha Court. Once you arrive, speak to Sidon on the stone pillar, where he will create a vortex in the water and jump in to reach an underwater cave beneath East Reservoir Lake.

Venture Into The Underwater Cave

Upon spawning in the area, use the Ultrahand on the wooden chest located on the left side to obtain a sword. Next, use Fuse to combine the sword with any of the rocks scattered on the ground to create a Rock Hammer. Use the Rock Hammer to smash the boulders in the right corner of the cave. These boulders are blocking the water flow, and breaking them will cause the water level to rise, enabling you to swim to the floor above and access the Ancient Zora Waterworks.

In the Ancient Zora Waterworks, you'll need to raise the water level again by destroying more boulders. To do this, use the Ultrahand to place a wooden plank in the water in front of the boulders on the left side. Climb on the plank to attack and destroy the boulders, but be careful not to hit the wooden plank itself, or it will break.

After raising the water level, swim to the right side of the area where you'll find a green ring with rubble stuck inside it. The surface of the ring is slippery and cannot be climbed directly. To overcome this obstacle, you can use the Ultrahand to stick the wooden planks together and lean them against the wall to create a makeshift bridge. Walk over the wooden planks and destroy the boulders to clear the path. Once you're done, swim to the left side and climb the cliffs to reach the pipe entrance. The walls surrounding the entrance are slippery and cannot be climbed unless you have armor that allows you to do so. However, you can stand on the rocks and do a running jump to reach it.

Go through the pipe all the way to the end until you see a bunch of dirty water streams dripping from a grate above. Use Ascend to beam through the grate. You will spawn in front of the next boulders, and destroy them to release the water. Climb up the ladder and use Ultrahand on the switch to open the gate. Then swim to the altar in the middle of the area and activate it. This creates a waterfall to the sky island above and triggers some dialogue.

Explore Wellspring Island

Once the dialogue ends, make sure to equip the Zora Armor before jumping into the waterfall. Press the A button to swim up and follow the linear path to reach the flying island. If you haven't obtained the Zora Armor from the Main Quest: Restoring the Zora Armor, do that first as it is mandatory to progress further. On the island, proceed forward and talk to Sidon. You will come across green glowing machines that create water bubbles. Stand in front of them and allow the bubbles to carry you up to the next floor.

Make use of the next bubble maker to float upwards, and as the bubble is about to burst, glide towards the following bubble maker and then proceed to the next floor. You can either defeat the two Level III Zonai or run past them, and continue up through the sludge-filled path. Glide to the next pillar, land on the wall, and climb up to reach the left side where you'll see a green-glowing shrine. Glide towards the brown waterfalls that come from the serpent mouths and ensure that you have the Zora Armor equipped to swim up the water. While you're here, complete the Igoshon Shrine to unlock a permanent fast travel point.

Following the shrine, a group of bird-machines and orange crystals will come into view near a ramp. Employ Ultrahand to position a bird on the ramp, right in front of the stone block. Take your place on the bird and fire an arrow at the orange crystal. After a short while, the stone block will push the bird forward, causing it to soar into the air. Glide from the bird to the subsequent island. Repeat the process of swimming up the next waterfall and gliding from one waterfall to the next until you arrive at the next large island inhabited by enemies. Proceed up the right side of the ruins.

Upon reaching the next island, you'll come across a bubble maker that sends bubbles toward you. Enter one of the bubbles and use Recall to send it back in the opposite direction, carrying you along with it and helping you cross the gap. On this island, you'll find another bubble maker that shoots bubbles toward a nearby wall, causing them to ricochet and be of no use to you. However, by using Ultrahand, you can prop up one of the stone slates against the wall, creating a ramp for the bubbles to bounce off of. Stand on the makeshift ramp, wait for a bubble, and let it carry you up to the next island, where you can glide to safety.

Upon arrival, you'll encounter a large ramp, carts, and fans. Take one of the fans and attach it to a cart, then position the cart in front of the ramp. Climb onto the cart, activate the fan, jump off the cart while in midair, and glide to the next island where Sidon is waiting. Speak to Sidon to have him rejoin your party, and proceed to defeat the next enemy. This enemy is quite strong, but you can use Sidon's ability to your advantage. Finally, jump into the next sludge waterfall to reach the Water Temple.

Navigate The Water Temple

After arriving at the Water Temple, go forward and talk to Sidon. Then interact with the green portal in front of you. The goal here is to find and unlock Four Faucets to turn on the water.

Water Temple Faucet Number 1

First, climb up the ruins on the left side. There will be three enemies and they hit very hard. Defeating them isn’t absolutely mandatory but makes the next steps easier. You must use Sidon’s water ability on the sludge-covered bubble maker in the back left corner. Have him cast a bubble around you, then jump up in the air and press the Y button to strike the sludge on the bubble maker to wash it away. Now grab the round ball found here in the same area in the water between the enemies.

Hold it in front of the bubble maker. When a bubble comes, press the A button to attach it. Now the ball will float inside the bubble to the next floor. You must also jump in a bubble and have it carry you up to the next floor. Place the ball on the round pedestal in the pool. The ball will float in the water which is normal and fine for now.

Next, grab one of the floating green rocks in the area with Ultrahand. These are actually battery-powered Zonai devices, a type of special rock that stays in place as long as the battery lasts. Use Ultrahand to attach one of them on top of the sluice on the right. Then use Ultrahand to raise the sluice. Make sure the green Zonai stone is powered on. You must hit it once if it’s not already activated. You know it’s on when it glows green and a battery icon appears onscreen. The floating rock will hold the sluice fully raised so that it doesn’t go back down. This drains the water from the pool and makes the ball fall into the round pedestal. This in turn opens a gate at the end of the pool where a golden questmarker is. Quickly run there and use Sidon’s water ability on the wheel. This turns on the first faucet.

Water Temple Faucet Number 2

For the second Faucet, glide down the west side of the big platform in the center to get to the bottom floor ( B1 ). There is a wall of fire. Activate Sidon’s ability to cast a protective bubble around you, then quickly walk through the fire. In this room, you must glide over to a little orb at the end. Pick up the orb with Ultrahand, press the Up Directional Button to push it over the spikes on the floor as far as possible. Then do a running jump and glide over the spikes. Even though it looks like too big of a gap, since this area has low gravity you can make this long jump easily. Then pick up the orb again using Ultrahand and press the A Button to attach it to one of the floating rocks.

Climb up the wall back to the start of the room. Again, use Ultrahand to carry the rock with the attached orb to the wall at the entrance, next to the fire. Place the rock with the attached orb on the wall. The orb has to face the wall so that it fits into the round slot. Keep the flying rock attached, it will hold the orb in place, but only as long as the battery lasts. If the battery runs out you need to let it recharge and hit the rock again to activate its anti-gravity effect, which holds it in place (the battery icon appears onscreen and the rock glows green). This will open the door to the water wheel directly across from the orb’s wall slot.

Grab another flying rock with Ultrahand and place it at the entrance inside the fire stream, at the top where the fire comes out. This blocks the fire so you can safely go back out to Sidon. Press the A button on him to activate his ability, run back inside, and press the Y Button. to shoot the water at the wheel. This will activate the second faucet.

Water Temple Faucet Number 3

To get to the northeast island from the main platform, climb the wall to the right of the faucets where the big sludge is dripping down. Once on top, glide to the island where you'll find a bubble maker. Wait for the bubble to approach, then use Recall and jump into it quickly. This will cause the bubble to rise with you inside it. Jump out at the top and glide to the upper platform.

Located on the right side, there is a water wheel with two stone slates positioned beneath it. Using Ultrahand, attach one slate to the top and the other to the bottom of the water wheel. Then, spin the attached slate into the waterfall using Ultrahand and release it. This action should cause the water wheel to rotate. However, it's crucial to ensure that the water wheel continues to turn on its own. If it doesn't, you might need to adjust the placement of the stone slates to catch more water from the waterfall to keep pushing the water wheel.

As you follow the yellow line from the water wheel towards the left side, you'll come across a gap in the wall. To conduct the electricity to the door, use the Ultrahand to grab a water bubble and place it in the gap. The door will open, allowing you to use Sidon's water ability to open the third faucet by shooting it at the wheel. Be sure to act quickly before the water bubble bursts, or else you'll have to place another bubble in the gap.

Water Temple Faucet Number 4

Once you reach the last platform in the south, where the last golden quest marker is located, defeat the enemies present in the area. In the center of the area, there is a tower that spins around. However, the opening in the tower is covered by sludge. To remove the sludge, you need to pop a water bubble near it. After the sludge is cleared, you will see an orange crystal inside the tower. To shoot the crystal, follow these steps:

At the southeast corner, there's a bubble maker machine, and you can stand on top of it. As soon as new water bubbles form from the machine, use Ultrahand to grab them. While pushing the Right Stick forward, press the Up Directional button to move the bubble as close as possible to the spinning tower. Continue doing this repeatedly and place bubbles all around the top of the tower, and wait until one of them pops to remove the sludge and reveal the orange crystal inside.

By activating the Recall ability, you can check the inside of the tower before and after attempting to remove the sludge. The Recall ability freezes time, allowing you to get a good view of the tower's interior. If there's still sludge inside the tower, it means you didn't place the bubbles close enough or they popped when the tower was spinning. However, if you see a shiny orange crystal inside the tower, it means your efforts were successful, and you can move on to the next step.

To proceed, stand on the central platform marked with the quest indicator. From this vantage point, take aim at the orange crystal inside the rotating tower and shoot an arrow at it. Timing is crucial, so make sure to use the bows dropped by the two archer enemies in the area. In case you run out of arrows, you can reload the last autosave and try again. Once you hit the crystal, a brief cutscene will play, and the door leading to the last water wheel will open. Activate it with Sidon's ability to turn on the final faucet. Finally, interact with the green portal on the main platform in the center of the Water Temple to initiate the boss battle.

Face Off Against The Mucktorok Boss

This boss transforms into a shark. Have Sidon cast a water bubble around you. Follow the shark when it digs through the ground. As soon as it comes up, shoot the water bubble at him, this stuns him. Then immediately melee attack him. When he runs away keep stabbing him from behind. Repeat this strategy throughout the fight.

The boss has two primary attacks which are scattering shards on the floor and shooting a laser. With one of Sidon's bubbles around you, you are fully protected from a single hit. If the boss casts the shards, quickly run away as they don't reach very far and disappear after a short time. When the boss shoots the laser, jump over it and grab the glider to fly up to the boss. Hit the boss with water and make sure you always keep a water bubble around you to stay safe.

During the second phase, the boss will cover the floor with mud, so you need to be careful where you step and only walk on the clean parts of the floor. When the boss transforms into a smaller form, he will jump around in the mud and you should use Sidon's water attack to remove the mud. Keep hitting him with water when he turns into a shark to stun him and deal damage before he retreats.

Return to Zora's Domain

Upon defeating the boss, don't forget to collect the heart container and have a conversation with Sidon. Afterward, you will be transported back to Zora's Domain, thus concluding the Sidon of the Zora Main Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Keep in mind that finishing this quest is a prerequisite to continuing with the Regional Phenomena Main Quest. Move forward with this quest to advance further.
