Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Destroy Ganondorf Quest Walkthrough

Starting Location: Lookout Landing

You need to find Purah to proceed with the next objectives. Purah in the Lookout Landing. Talk to her and she will instruct you to hunt the Demon King located in the Depths along with the Five Sages. It is important to be prepared as this is going to be the final battle with Ganondorf. Utilize the available facilities around you to make preparations.

Teleport Your Way to Serutabomac Shrine and Storming Hyrule Castle

One easy way to reach the quest marker is by teleporting to Serutabomac Shrine and starting from there. Once you arrived follow the quest marker. Make your way to Hyrule Castle B2 level and you will be dealing with regular enemies. Be wise and breeze through them. Nothing here that you can't handle since the five sages will surely help you.

Follow the path here and you will encounter familiar trivial enemies. As you go deeper Level B3 is next. Continue the path to descend. Eventually, you will end up on a dead end, but you might be able to see that you can paraglide and dive into the depths from here. It is going to be a long dive so be prepared. Soon you will enter the Chasm.

Traversing Hyrule Castle Chasm

In this long dive, the chasm was presented and your goal is to reach the bottom of it. Before you hit the ground, paraglide to land safely. As soon as you see walk worm-like beings that shoot lightning projectile attacks, ignore them and further descend to the hole that they are guarding. When hitting the ground, another group of monsters will ambush Link. Be prepared and deal with them quickly. These enemies are pretty squishy, especially the humanoid ones. Some stay on the ceiling and shoot projectiles at you so use your bow accordingly. If low on health don't forget to replenish it by eating your prepared rations. This is the reason why preparing for this quest before taking it is a must. Proceed and more enemies will appear.

One notable enemy here is the Centaur-like demon. Study its move set as its charge attacks are detrimental to Link's health. It can deal heavy damage and incapacitate Link in a short period. The key is to wait for it to charge before dealing damage as in this manner, it cannot counter. Use your bow if the target is out of reach to cheap some damage. Its strongest attack is a large point-blank AOE explosion that you need to determine when the monster will use it. The indication is relatively simple. Before it does that, it will unleash a loud roar before the explosion. So the key here is to maintain your distance at all times. Dealing two to three blows will suffice and backing to a safe distance is a safe strategy here. Plus, taking advantage of your perfect dodge and flurry attack combinations works well too in this fight. Rinse and repeat and this beast will fall in no time.

After defeating the beast, move forward underneath the broken bridge that can be found in the vicinity. Use the Ascend ability to reach the bridge. Follow the path here and eventually, the bridge will collapse, opening another path for you to proceed. Continue to the next wide-spaced area and noticed that debris from a broken bridge above you started falling. Use the Recall ability to ride the debris and reach the upper parts of the area. Continue to the available path ahead and if it is too dark for you to navigate, you can always use Blossom Seeds to light your way. Continue ahead and you will come across a long hallway with a lot of these worm-like beings, deal with them accordingly. After this hallway, be careful stepping on miasma as Link suffers damage from it. Continue your path in the lower grounds of the ruins and regular enemies are here and there to keep you on your toes. Glide from point to point is a good strategy here, picking your enemies one by one. Be careful with archers at this point as they can deal a reasonable amount of damage, taking advantage of the unlikely terrain so counter them with your bow or Zonai devices.

As you descend into these ruins, you will reach a point where you can summon or ask for help from your sages. Thus, proceed with caution as multiple enemies can still gank you. Link will eventually reach a hall with an ample amount of space and this is going to be a boss arena.

Phantom Ganon Boss Fight Rematch

If you've been following this guide, this is almost the same fight compared to your first encounter with this boss in Korok Forest. Dealing with five hand-like beings is the first phase of this fight. Using AOE attacks such as Bomb Flower will do the trick. But this time, The Phantom will use a spear and you do not have your sages. Take advantage of perfect dodges and flurry attacks to quickly end the fight. Wait for it to attack and strikes back. Be careful not to step on the miasma scattered in the boss arena. After the boss fights, look for the nearest foundation that you can ascend to proceed.

Progress Through The Chasm Further

This is indeed a long level to travel, fitting the game's main quest's conclusion. As you proceed, go ahead and climb the broken stone staircase and reach the path where boulders block the passage ahead. You can either use Bomb Flower to destroy the Blockade or manually destroy it all by using rocks on your melee weapons. After you passed the first blockade, do the same on the second one. There will be brief enemy encounters in here but it should be no problems. Proceed further until you reach the Forgotten Foundation Section of the ruins. Proceed ahead as more enemies are waiting for you. Breeze through them and traverse this narrow path. There will be another stone blockage at the end of this narrow path. Soon you will enter the Mural where Zelda and you got separated. Proceed to the path where you first encounter Ganonforf's weaker state at the Imprisoning Chamber. Drop through the hole and reach the Gloom's Lair. Proceed further after reaching the bottom. Make the necessary preparations such as restocking the food supply or fusing weapons. Prepare yourself for the final battle. There's another long dive here and you will see strange glowing roots underneath you. Land on these roots and a cutscene will trigger. After the cutscene, your sages will be on your side once again as you fight in this final Battle.

The Demon King's Army Boss Battle

You and sages will be dealing with hordes of enemies in here. These are your regular enemies but much tankier. Strategically pick each and one of them one by one with your arsenal and abilities. Especially the sages. Time your attacks to the largest beast in here that serves their leader. Dodge its charge attacks and you will end this fight in no time. AOE attacks may serve well in this fight on the side note. After the leader dies, concentrate your attacks on the small ones. This should be an easy task. more will spawn and continue the same strategy that you applied in the first wave. After the minion's life gauge has been depleted, a cutscene will trigger.

The Final Battle, Defeat Demon King Ganondorf

The First Phase

Remember everything that you have been through as it will all falls for this moment. It is time for the final battle. His move set does not differ from his Phantom versions. Especially the one who wielded a sword. But there's a catch, he can now change his weapon typings such as wielding a two-handed sword and a spear. His attacks change as he changes weaponry. The same key strategy applies. Wait for him to strike, then dodge accordingly. After that, you can deal damage to him while his wide open. Be careful dealing with his AOE attacks as these attacks cover a wide range. Notable attacks for this boss.

Three-Way Shockwaves ( Two-handed Weapon )

He usually uses this attack if you are at a distance. He will fire away three-way shockwaves, followed up with a wide overhead jump attack. To dodge this, position yourself between these shockwaves and wait for the overhead attack. After this, you can counter and deal with blows.

Multiple Deadly Stabs ( Spear )

Before the actual stabs, he will do a telegraphed move and say the line " Take this ". I will not advise defending from these attacks as your shield may suffer immediately.

Dash with Thrust ( Spear )

He will dash toward you and renders a deadly thrust that can deal heavy damage. He will utter the line " begone " and suck energy from his surrounding. Before rushing towards you.

If you are having a hard time fighting him with melee weapons, use your bow arrows fused with Gibdo bones. This will quickly eat away at his life. If you managed to defeat his first form, be ready for the next one.

The Second Phase

He now revealed his true form and the fight will be much harder. Thankfully, you can still use the Bow, Arrows, and Gibdo Bone strategy to damage him. And you have your Sages with you. But, Ganondorf will also have shadow copies of him who attack on their own. When the wind rises, you use your paraglide in midair. While in this matter, you can aim at him in slow motion with your bow, providing heavy damage with Gibdo Bones. But when his life reaches 50%, the third phase will commence.

The Third Phase

In this phase, it will be you and Ganondorf alone again. During this Phase, Ganondorf can unleash multiple homing projectiles and ample amounts of shockwaves, dodge this accordingly by running sideways or positioning yourself where the shockwave cannot hit you. In spite of his monstrous abilities, he is still squishy. Your aim is to end the fight as fast as you can with your Gibdo Bone Arrows spam every time there's an opening.

The Final Phase

After the third phase, Ganondorf will now turn into a Demon Dragon. This is going to be the final battle and you will be fighting him with your own Dragon. Your main objective is to destroy all of the glowing eyes situated on the Demon Dragon's body. Dive from the sky and take out all of them one by one. If you can keep up with the Demon Dragon, ride your dragon again to gain an altitude so you can repeat the process. Paragliding really helps from here as you can position yourself where to land on the Demon Dragon's back. After getting rid of all of the weakest spots around the Demon Dragon's body, it is now time to end the fight head-on and destroy the glowing stone on its head and a cutscene will play to deal the final attack to the crystal. This will end the fight immediately and congratulations for completing the main storyline of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Hope you enjoyed the journey and this guide.
