Where to Find Riju in Zelda: TotK

The townspeople who are seeking shelter underground will tell you to look for Riju in the Northern ruins. From the beginning of the quest, follow the path to the left until you reach the ruins. Continue on to the path until you reach a room where the ground crumbles. Look around your surroundings and if you see a wooden ladder and boards on the wall, glide over to that area. Take note that you can climb the wall from one board to the next until you climb to the top.

Follow the path from here until you encounter enemies with some wooden logs leading upstairs. Climb up the logs then exit the cave. The Warrior Riju will be waiting for you there, practicing their electrical attacks. Now, approach and talk to her. She wants you to shoot arrows at targets where she would use her electrical attacks- basically a shooting range. Next, she asks you to hit 3 targets at once. Keep practicing until you get this right.

This teaches you how to use her ability and allows you to fight hordes a lot easier.

Defend The Gerudo Town in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

After the training with Riju, head back to Gerudo Town to put your training into use. Riju tells you about preparing for a battle. If you have activated the Mayatat Shrine, you can simply fast travel to the closest area, then once you arrive, this will trigger a cutscene.

Defeat the enemies at Kara Kara Bazar using your arrows, together with the help of Riju's ability. After the fight, you will get another cutscene to explain that you need to destroy the purple-colored mushroom on the right side of the battlefield. Defeat the rest of the enemies and then fast travel to Gerudo Town.

Meeting Riju in Gerudo Town Zelda: TotK

Look for Riju when you get to the town. Talk to her and then go inside the throne room to talk to Buliara. Choose the dialogue that says "What's the Plan?" and will inform you to talk to Captain Teake in the right courtyard, and then to go to Padda in the left courtyard. Do this immediately.

Talking to Capt. Teake will let you choose where to place the soldiers. With Padda, you can decide where to put the barricades by choosing "Let's Talk Barricades" in the dialogue. When you're done, talk to Riju once more and then the battle starts.

Destroying the Gibdo Hives: Tears of the Kingdom

In this fight, you have to remember that there are 3 hives that you need to destroy. North, East, and West. When the hives turn to the color purple, you need to shoot them with an arrow. Every time they light up, more enemies will spawn. Make sure to deal with this quickly, so that the Town will not be defenseless. The NPCs should be able to hold off as you go to destroy the hives.

After destroying all 3 of the hives, return to Riju at the town square and defeat the enemies waiting for you there. This will trigger a cutscene and a dialogue with Riju. She will ask you to follow her to the underground shelter. Follow the yellow waypoint in your map that will lead to a mural. Approach the mural and inspect it.

How to Solve the Mural Riddle in Zelda: TotK

The mural will give you a riddle: "Standing back-to-back with the throne, witness red pillars across a vast sea. Unite the pillars in light to real the lightning stone and open the way. You who can hear my voice, come to me. I await you." To begin this quest, head back into the throne room, and there you will find 3 tall stone pillars behind the throne.

Climb the platform with the 3 pillars. You will notice that the floor can be broken. Combine a weapon with a rock to make a hammer and then break it. By doing this, a mirror will be revealed and will shine a light. Follow the direction of the beam further into the desert. Towards the end of the beam, you will find another platform with 3 pillars. This time, walk towards the smaller tower on the right and then climb up the big wheel. Spin this wheel counter-clockwise until you get a cutscene that will show the tower reflecting the beam of light. Continue to follow the beam of light to the third tower.

When you get to the third tower, you need to use the paraglider over a Wind Gust to safely land on the tower. Now, break the floor using a rock hammer. This will reveal two green stones and 4 wooden sticks. Using Link's Ultrahand ability, attach the stones together and then the 4 sticks onto the stones to create a platform. Next, use the Ascend ability to go up the tower. Continue doing the same until you get to the top. Then, attach a small pillar to the broken crank at the top of the tower and spin it. Try to aim the light toward the first tower. When the position is right, the cutscene will be triggered automatically.

Head back to the town to reveal the next part of this quest.

Queen Gibdo Boss Fight in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

You will be fighting a boss in this area. Interact with Riju and then shoot your arrow when the monster is within range. When it's vulnerable, you can run in to deal a melee attack to it. This will deal more damage to the boss. Continue doing this and try to evade the attacks by running sideways. After dealing at least 33% damage to the boss, the fight will end.

How to Navigate the Lightning Temple

After the boss fight, shoot the purple hives with Riju's ability. This will open up a path to the Lightning Temple. Go inside the temple and explore the room. You will find a weapon called "Korok-Frond Guster." Using the weapon you just picked up, you can use this to clear the sand pile in front of the gate. This will reveal a pressure plate on the floor. Stand on it to open the door. Now, go through the door and go to your right. When you see a wall of fire, run & jump over it. Be quick here because the ground will crumble. Just in case you drop down, you can get back up using the Ascend ability.

Study the pattern and timing of the flames. You must quickly run through this. Stand on the pressure plate behind the flames so that Riju can get across to you. Going to the next room, there will be fireballs rolling around. Use the Recall ability to make it roll back, then run across the corridor to disable the trap. Continue the path until you reach a room with a beam of light and an enemy. Defeat the enemy, and then use the weapon you found earlier to clear the sand pile. Using the Ultrahand ability, pick up the mirror and hold it in the light to illuminate the yellow crystal above the locked door.

Go through the door that you just opened with the mirror and go to the Room of Ascension. You will find a green altar in the room, and go interact with it. This activates a waypoint for you. The next thing you have to do is to charge 4 batteries in the temple to activate the elevator. This will give you access to the top of the temple.

Where to find the Batteries in Lightning Temple in Zelda: TotK

Charging the Battery #1

The first battery is directly behind the altar. Using the Ultrahand ability, move the boulders out of the way to create a path. Enter the room and use Riju's ability to strike the lightning rod. That will finish the task for our first battery.

Go back to the main room.

Charging the Battery #2

Using Ultrahand, lift the boulder blocking the wing current out of the hole. This will allow you to glide over a few floors with your paraglider. Next, ride the current upwards and enter the room on the floor above you. You will notice one that will be emitting a light from its doorway. You will find a tunnel with two wheels missing a part. To solve this, you have to line up both wheels. Next, use Recall on the wheel in front of you and then stop when both wheels line up. Both wheels should be rotating at the same time now.

Go towards the tunnel through the wheels, and the remove the rocks blocking using the Ultrahand ability. This will allow the light to pass through and then will hit a statue directly across. You will notice a switch on the ground, step on it and then enter the room that just opened.

Move the boulders on the right and then place them on the spiked walls to give Link passage. Step on the switch to turn off the spikes and then Riju will follow you. Following the path in front of you, use one of the boulders to jam the mechanism on the right. This will give Link and Riju a safe passage in the room. Follow the hallway and then fight the constructs that you will see in the next room.

Next, jump down the side where you see the light coming from. With your Ultrahand ability, hold the mirror under the light and direct it towards the yellow crystal behind the rotating wall. Hold this position until the crystal turns green to open the roof above the light. Go back using Ascend to the top floor. Now, unblock the spike trap that you placed earlier by taking out the stone. Using the same mirror, use it once more to shine the light through the corridor to open the gate to the second battery. There's a mirror lying on the ground here by searching in the piled-up sand or retrieving one from the defeated enemy.

Block the spike trap again to go back to the previous room, and then stand on the floor plate mechanism so that Riju can rejoin you. Shoot an arrow at the battery, and use Riju's ability to charge it. That's the second battery, done.

Charging the Battery #3

Starting from the main room, ride up the wind and go to the 5th level. From there, you will see a light shining from the wall. Be careful, because there is an enemy archer here. The light is being blocked by the statue in front. Using Ultrahand, move the statue away from the blocking, then a mirror will be revealed. Using that mirror, reflect the light towards the 2nd statue. Now, move the 2nd statue until the beam of light hits it to activate a statue on the 2nd floor. Follow the direction of the light to reach a floor plate. Step on it, and this will reveal a path behind.

Follow the path that just opened, and you will find enemies here. Destroy the hive using Riju's ability, and then defeat the rest of the enemies. Once everyone is defeated, attach a balloon on the metal grate and the small mirror on the side. Move it towards the beam of light using Ultrahand. Now, look for a torch from the left side of the room and place it near the light. Go back to the balloon platform that you have just created, and wait for it to float. Stay on the platform until you reach the top, and then the mirror that you attached will shine the light at a yellow crystal. Wait until you heard the gate open that leads to the 3rd battery. Charge it up using Riju's ability.

Charging the Battery #4

Back to the main room, use the wind current to ride it up to the 5th floor. We need to access the light & statue room that we used earlier except this time, we have to align the statue in front of the light all the way to the other side so that it will shine a different statue. Move it until it reflects the light to the next statue and then make sure that it will reflect all the way to the 6th floor. If the position is right, this will light up a statue. Use the wind current and ride up to the 6th floor. Follow where the light shines to find a floor plate. Stand on it to open a path behind the statue. Drop down the hole that just opened and then you will land in front of the battery.

Next, stand on the floor plate to open up the door for Riju to come in. She can now use her ability to charge the battery. That finished up all four batteries for Wind Temple. Now all 4 batteries are charged up, you can now go back to the main room.

Queen Gibdo Boss Fight Final in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Before you initiate the boss fight, it is recommended to make a manual save and prepare first. You can do this by bringing plenty of cooked meals for healing to be used while fighting the boss. Do this before interacting with the green light.

Use Riju's ability on the hive to make Queen Gibdo reappear. The strategy is similar to before and will be using the same evasion strategy. Remember to walk sideways to avoid getting damaged, and always use Riju's ability to deal maximum damage. You will be using ranged attacks mostly, so make sure that you have prepared enough arrows. When the boss is vulnerable, you can run toward her and then do a quick melee hit. Another thing to note is that this boss will deal more damage than the previous one. So be extra careful while dealing with the boss.

Return to Gerudo Town

After defeating the boss, you will find a Heart Container left behind. Pick up the item and speak with Riju. This will automatically take you to Gerudo Town. The end of the dialogue marks the end of the quest Riju of Gerudo Town. You can now head on over to Main Quest: A Mystery In the Depths for the next quest.
