The South Lanayru Sky Crystal is a Shrine Quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Shrine Quests are optional Quests that can be taken at any time and are not required to finish the game. Players will have to catapult themselves up between different islands to get the Shrine Crystal, then the shrine quest The Ice Guides You activates.

A Light of Blessing, and a Mighty Zonaite in a chest Shield will be rewarded upon completion of the shrine.
Zelda TotK The South Lanayru Sky Crystal Quest Walkthrough
The Mayanas Shrine is located on the South Lanayru Sky Archipelago. You can get there by launching yourself from the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower then glide towards Northeast until you reach the closest island.
Once you get there you can find a movable platform and a smaller plane you can use to make your way to the second bigger Sky Island towards the East.
Follow the beam, at the end of the island you'll find a moveable platform and some rockets. Use that to make your way up to an Island with an opening covered with branches on the Northeast. Make your way into the cave and retrieve the Shrine Crystal.
When you get in the Shrine, you will actually have to do a puzzle. In the Shrine, you'll find some Ice Fruit. You can throw them onto the water to make ice platforms, attach them together and attach the steel plates nearby and have them slide down the slope and hit the target with the platforms, for the second room, it's more or less the same however you will have to launch the platform on a specific spot to hit the target.
