How to Get to the Spirit Temple in Tears to the Kingdom

After the events of the Main Quest Crisis at Hyrule Castle, the group will be in slightly low spirits, seeing firsthand how strong the Demon King is and how difficult the coming battle against him will be, which will decide the fate of Hyrule. Purah, however, reassesses that they may yet have all the pieces of the puzzle together, as there were six sages in all the visions, and only five are currently accounted for, including Princess Zelda. Reinvigorated with some hope, the group temporarily splits up to look for any clues pointing toward any major ancient ruins where they could find this last sage’s ancient artifact, as they found theirs in ancient ruins themselves, initiating the Main Quest Find the Fifth Sage.

Your own search will eventually lead you to Dragonhead Island. There will be a doorway you can open here to move forward, but you’ll need to already have ten hearts to proceed. Once you do, examine the door to get to a room where you’ll activate a mask that shoots out a green beam of light, and a voice will tell you to take this mask in order to follow the light. This initiates the Main Quest for the Spirit Temple, Guidance from Ages Past, and will lead you to find the Construct Factory. There you will slot the mask into what seems like a mold for a large humanoid construct, which already has its body in the intended slot. The voice will introduce herself as Mineru, the Sage of Spirit, and explain that she has no physical body anymore. However, she can still help you if you assemble a body that she can use, by assembling the other body parts needed into the construct mold. Go to each of the four depots in the factory and solve the puzzles to get each part and slot them into the mold. For an in-depth guide on how to assemble the parts of Mineru’s construct, visit our walkthrough page for the Construct Factory!

After assembling the construct, her spirit will inhabit it. Accompanied by Mineru’s construct, you now have to get to her secret stone, while testing out the construct's capabilities along the way. Ride the construct straight ahead to a platform to get a tutorial on letting the construct wield weapons. Afterward, you can head to the next platform behind you to the left. There will be one Soldier Construct II and two Soldier Construct IIIs nearby to practice on. Guarding the stairs to the next platform will be a corrupted Lizalfos with a corrupted Blue Moblin and a corrupted Black Moblin. This platform will show you how to attach Zonai Devices to the back of the construct to amplify its movement capabilities. Do so and then head to the right to the next platform. The path will be beset by another pair of Black and Blue Moblins, two corrupted Lizalfos, and a corrupted Blue Bokoblin. This platform will have ranged weapons for the construct to wield this time. Use them to dispatch the five Fire Keese coming at you from the right. Head up the hill to the left, collecting some Poes on the way. To the right you should be able to see the Sijotu Lightroot, so head to it to unravel a bit of the map and light up the way. Head toward your objective to the south to fight a corrupted Blue Hinox, and then keep moving forward to the next platform. This platform has some Cannons and a Spiked Iron Ball to equip the construct with. Have the construct use either of these to destroy the rugged rocks blocking your path forward, grabbing the Poes, Rusty Claymore, and Opal as you go. When you’re able to see the last platform, there will be a Little Frox and a corrupted Little Frox nearby. Head to the platform collecting some more Poes on the way. The area near the platform is patrolled by a line of seven corrupted Blue Bokoblin, a corrupted Silver Bokoblin, led by a corrupted Boss Bokoblin. At the platform, Mineru will point you toward the entrance to the Spirit Temple up above. Equip the construct with one of the nearby Rockets and then fly up to finally reach the Spirit Temple.

How to Beat the Boss in the Spirit Temple in Zelda TotK

Enter the temple and Mineru will shoot a laser on the statue through her construct, which will bring you downstairs to where her secret stone is. Approach it and a trap is triggered, putting you in a mecha-cage match with the Seized Construct. It seems the Demon King turned Mineru’s old creation into a corrupted pawn of his to guard the stone, so you’ll have to defeat it together to move forward.

This boss can do a number of attacks, and you can either guard against all of them or weave left and right to dodge them. At melee range, it’ll do some basic attacking with its arms and a visibly telegraphed electric attack. Guard against the former, and dodge the latter. For ranged attacks, it’ll either pull out Cannons for its hands or levitate and throw cannonballs at you or charge at you with an electric attack. You should mitigate damage by dodging both, but if you have a Cannon equipped you can actually bring it down to stun it for some time while you rush in and deal as much damage as possible. You can do this even when it’s not flying around, as well as stun it momentarily using a Shock Emitter if you brought one. Whenever you stun it, it will drop equipment you can use. Whenever you hit it with melee attacks, you’ll push it backward slightly, but every fourth melee attack pushes it back a great distance. Pushing it back to hit the barbed wires will be your main source of damage for this fight. When it drops down to half health, it will bring out two more arms which mainly means more of each attack. It’ll also start guarding your melee attacks more and counterattack immediately after, so whenever you see its metal gloves up, hold off on your melee rush until it drops its guard. Deploy the same tactic of stunning and then rushing it into the wires and eventually the boss will fall. Finally defeating it will reward you with a Heart Container, and the tear-shaped object will finally be accessible. Approach it to initiate a cutscene, revealing more information about Mineru, the voice that’s been guiding you all this time. Afterward, Mineru will bless you with her ring, the Vow of Mineru, Sage of Spirit, so you’ll be able to call upon the power of her construct whenever you need it. Congratulations!

Speed Run Walkthrough

After assembling the construct at the Construct Factory, Mineru will be able to inhabit it and guide you to the Spirit Temple to get her secret stone. Ride the construct straight ahead to get to the first platform, and equip it with some weapons to help with the monsters along the way to the temple. You can rush straight to each platform moving forward if you want without actually killing the monsters. Attach one of the Fans in this next platform to the construct to move faster along to get to the next one. The ranged weapons in this next platform should also help with any enemies moving forward. From here head up the hill to your left and then to the right to get to the Sijotu Lightroot and activate it to shed some light on your map and your path. Continuing toward the objective to the south, a corrupted Blue Hinox will block your path so take care of it together with your construct, and then move on to the next platform. You’ll need the Cannons in this platform for later so make sure to equip them. You can also equip one of the Spike Iron Balls instead to break the rugged rocks blocking your way if you want some Poes and an Opal. Otherwise, dismount from the construct and then just climb over the rocks to get to the other side. The construct will just spawn behind you without having to destroy the rocks. Sneak past the line of enemies or just rush to the platform. Attach the Rocket here to the construct and fly up to the entrance of the Spirit Temple. Head inside for a cutscene and eventually enter a mecha-cage deathmatch against the Seized Construct.

The strategy for this is simple - stun the boss with either a Cannon or a Shock Emitter, and then use melee attacks to push him back and into the barbed wires for lots of damage. The Seized Construct will have its own melee attack, in addition to a huge charged shock attack, so make sure you guard and dodge as necessary. It can also float and attack you from mid-air with Cannons, or come at you with another charged attack so dodge these accordingly, or hit it with a Cannon to bring it down and stun it. At half health he’ll be more aggressive with the same attacks, and guard more frequently to counterattack, so be mindful and hold off on melee attacks when he has his metal fists up. Otherwise, just keep stunning it and pushing it into the barriers and it’ll eventually fall, rewarding you with more cutscenes, and great boons for your adventure.
