"Unreliable" my ass. This blade is more than serviceable against the monsters you are like to find during your first trips into the Depths, though it will be quickly outpaced. When you need a Hammer or something to fill the slots, don't knock this bad boy. Also pick them up anyway, it may cause better things to spawn there.
