Knights of Hyrule Castle once carried this sword. It can yield powerful attacks when you're down to your last heart.

Knight's Broadsword + is a One-Handed Weapon in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Weapons in Zelda TotK feature a diverse set of weapons, each having its own stats, strengths, and weaknesses. Players must remember that weapons will eventually break once their health starts to chip when it is used, however, luckily, weapons can be easily found by looting chests, destroying grass, stealing it from enemies, and crafting or infusing different weapons or materials.

    • This weapon is generally not the best of the sword line... that is, unless you like to live dangerously (or are early enough in heart/armour progression that most hits take you to one heart from full). The Desperate Strength effect, unlike the other two effects of the basic weapon line, has a situational trigger - being on your last heart. This makes it most powerful earlier in the game, where a lot of attacks can take you to one heart from full because you don't have many hearts/don't have upgraded armour.

Typically when hit by an attack that would otherwise kill you from full health, the game will drop you to one or less hearts but not kill you outright as a sort of 'mercy', unless the attack would kill you several times over. You can abuse this to trigger Desperate Strength, but once you start finding Royal Weapons more often they'll naturally outclass the Knight line. Otherwise, this is just a more powerful and durable soldier weapon with a less applicable effect.

Addendum: Because this can only be found in the Depths, there is more of a chance to trigger its effect, especially early game, as you cannot heal Gloom damaged hearts without Sunny food made from Sundelions or a Lightroots aura. Therefore, being hit by an attack from a Gloom enemy that would otherwise one-shot you will leave you at one heart - and you will be STUCK there, making this both more useful and more dangerous. As with any Knight weapon, abuse at your own risk. Otherwise, just a nice sword.
