A spear whose ominous appearance strikes fear into hearts. It is said to cost its bearer a part of their soul because its gloom will gradually wear down the body of its wielder.

Gloom Spear is a Spear Weapon in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Weapons in Zelda TotK feature a diverse set of weapons, each having its own stats, strengths, and weaknesses. Players must remember that weapons will eventually break once their health starts to chip when it is used, however, luckily, weapons can be easily found by looting chests, destroying grass, stealing it from enemies, and crafting or infusing different weapons or materials.

    • The Gloom Spear, in the hands of its original wielders, is the fastest option - its stabs are much faster than the other two options, however it seemingly lacks a unique move like the swords spin attack or the clubs jumping slam. However, that narrow focus makes it among the easier to simply sidestep, and Spear versions of the miniboss are most likely the easiest to eliminate.

In Links grubby hands, Gloom Toll will drain some of your maximum health via Gloom Damage every few times the weapon loses durability - i.e. when it hits something. Damage from Lynel back does not count, making these excellent early game options for Lynel killing. This effect becomes less of an issue the farther into the game you are, as your maximum hearts and defence increase making it easier to give a few hearts to the gloom. Additionally, while Gloom damage does not regenerate naturally in the Depths, it does so everywhere aboveground - even in the middle of a fight. It is worth noting, however, that none of these effects apply when the weapon is fused to something - feel free to use it as a boost to your weapons power and range.

Otherwise, this stylish stabby stick has one of the highest raw attack values in the game - quite possibly the highest for a spear. Unfortunately, its durability is awful for a spear, meaning it won't last very long. However, it is often worth considering at least fusing this to something - 40 raw attack, awful durability or no, is never anything to scoff at unless you've got enough Silver Lynel Saber Horns or Molduga Jaws to outfit a standing army.
