Crossing the Cold Pool is a Side Quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Side Quests are optional Quests that can be taken at any time and are not required to finish the game. Zelda TotK Crossing the Cold Pool Quest Walkthrough
The quest begins at Talonto Peak in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You can start from Hebra Trailhead Lodge and ascend the ladders, heading north along the snowy mountain path. Eventually, you will reach a purple bird-man at the path's end, who will give you the quest. Alternatively, you can fly to this location from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower.
In the quest, the NPC named Verla asks you to gather 10 Chillshrooms from a cave. However, there is icy water in the cave that will deplete your health if you swim through it. If you have significantly upgraded your health, you can force your way through by swimming and using health items. However, there is a proper method to complete the quest without taking damage.
To the right of Verla, outside the cave, there are several wooden planks. By using the Ultrahand ability, you can carry the planks inside the cave and assemble them together. Initially, the planks might be a tight fit at the cave entrance, but you can rotate them and use the D-pad to adjust their positioning. Place around 4-5 planks inside the cave and connect them into a long plank. When placed in the water, the wood will float, allowing you to walk over it to the other side and then climb the wall.
Once you reach the end of the cave, collect all the Chillshrooms, which exceed the required amount of 10. Return to Verla and initiate a conversation with him. Choose the dialogue option "Is this enough?" to present the gathered Chillshrooms. Verla will be pleased and reward you with 50 Rupees.
