A Trip through History is a Side Quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Side Quests are optional Quests that can be taken at any time and are not required to finish the game. The quest requires going to Kakariko Village, finding Bugut, and reading all the deciphered slabs located in broken Ring Ruins near the village.

Stone slabs have been found in the Ring Ruins that fell around Kakariko Village. Bugut has come to see the writing on the slabs but is afraid of heights and can't visit the ruins. If you read what's written on each slab, let him know what they say. You have 3 more to tell him about.

To begin the quest, head over to Kakariko Village and search the front of each shop until you spot Bugut, who roams around the village. After finding him, be sure to read all the deciphered slabs, which can be found in the broken Ring Ruins located near the village. The first slab can be found by traveling southwest from the village to the ruins, but be aware that several Bokoblins may be camping in the area. Defeat them before reading the slab notes safely, and move on to the next one.
For the second slab, head to the north of Lantern Lake. The quickest way to get there is by teleporting to Makasura Shrine and climbing up the mountains. Look for a small camp near the ruins and climb up using the ladders to read the deciphered slabs.
To find the third slab, go to the ruins east of Kakariko Village, near a Zonai Gacha Machine. The entrance can be found, and the deciphered slab is located at the back, near a person looking for an item. Be sure to read it before leaving.
For the last deciphered slab, go to the ruins on East Hill, northeast of Kakariko Village, near the Chasm. The slab is located on top of a table. Read it and then return to Bugut to tell him about the slabs. As a reward, he will give you three Thunderwing Butterflies, and the quest will be completed.
